Guerrillas blamed as blasts hit Mexican oil pipelines

Home (CBC News) - A series of explosions, blamed on left-wing saboteurs, ripped apart pipelines owned by Mexico's state-run oil company on Monday.

Several blasts affected at least five major gas pipelines for the Mexican state oil monopoly Petroleos Mexicanos, or Pemex, prompting the evacuation of 12,000 workers from the area in southern Mexico, government officials said.

No deaths or injuries were reported from the explosions, which occurred around 2 a.m.
