(The Age) - BHP Billiton's giant Atlantis oilfield in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, one of the company's most important sources of future earnings and production growth, is finally flowing oil after a string of delays and cost blow-outs. "We can confirm that the Atlantis field began flowing oil," BHP spokeswoman Emma Meade said yesterday. "It is producing an estimated 10,000 barrels of oil per day. The field is on schedule to begin ramping up oil and gas production near the end of the year." Link |
